The CLGFS (formerly CLGSL) has a long history in the Crystal Lake community, providing young girls the opportunity to learn the game of softball as well as make new friends that last beyond the game. 

• The Comets have a unique mission statement which is strongly supported by the Board of Directors, the mission statement's main emphasis is to use Softball as a tool to build well rounded young women that excel in academics, community service, and athletics. 

• Starting with one 16U in 2009, The Comets expanded to include 10U, 12U, and 14U teams in 2010. 

• During the time frame of 2010 - 2013 there was an exponential growth of near-by travel team that competed against CLGFS, causing The Comets and all the local travel teams to became very competitive on recruitment of players. 

• The 14U division survived the downsize and with support of the Board of Directors and coaches continued to implement the vision; an "All-Academic" team was formed, the teams participated in charity and community service efforts...and as the team grew together - they experienced much success on the field.   

• In 2014 the Comets travel division was discontinued due to lack of commitment.
• In 2015 the Comets were reinstated as In house "All Star Teams". Comets tournament teams participate in local (Illinois) based tournaments, and continue to excel placing in many of these tournaments. 
  
• In 2016 8U and 10U teams competed in two local tournaments
• 2017, again Comets remained in the 8U and 10U divisions competing and placing in Cary and Woodstock tournaments
• 2018, our program expanded to three teams, 8u, 10u, 12u.
• 2019 Comets Fielded Teams at 8U, 10U, 12U & 14U Levels.  The teams had success placing in tournaments at Woodstock & Cary.
• 2020 Comets were hi-jacked by the COVID Pandemic.
• 2021 We fielded 3 teams at the 8U, 12U and 14U Level. 
• 2022  We have all 4 levels of Comets teams this year!  Good luck to all once the season gets rolling!
